HOT GAS FILTRATION FOR BIOLOGICAL SLUDGE INCINERATION PLANT
Plants: flue gas treatment, hot gas filtration
Sector: waste
Location: Italy
Guaranteed dust emissions < 5mg/Nm3
Introduction
The subject of this case story is a flue gas treatment plant realized for an Italian company, specialized in wastewater treatment. The plant is designed for the filtration of dust produced during the pyrolytic treatment of biological sludge.
Problem
The inefficiency and malfunctioning of the old gas cleaning system, consisting of a gas cooling quencher, a disused reagent injection system and a bag filter, which was deteriorating due to gas temperatures below the dew point with high moisture loads.
Solution
To solve the corrosion problems, TVT has proposed to increase the flue gas temperature at filter inlet, therefore decreasing the water consumption in the quenching system, and to install the hot gas filtration system with ceramic elements and adequate insulation to prevent condensation.
The hot gas filtration system has been designed to treat a flow rate of 120,000 m3/h at a working temperature of 350 °C. The filter is made of AISI316Ti for all parts in contact with the gases and the structural components coupled to them, so as not to incur problems of different thermal expansion during operation at high temperature.
